GM9

The Analox GM9 Glucose Analyser is a fast plasma glucose analyser that can be used in research or routine applications. Using interference-free electrochemical technology and sophisticated microprocessor control, the GM9 offers an accurate, simple to use, compact system which gives a printed result within 20 seconds of sample injection. It is a direct equivalent to the world’s best known glucose analyser, the Beckman Glucose 2. The GM9 offers true stat economy, with the lowest reagent cost per test commercially available. Excellent performance is obtained for both high and very low level glucose values, where many of the strip-test based glucose monitors show inconsistencies.

In addition, the GM9 offers whole blood glucose analysis when the appropriate Analox collection system is used. A fully portable model (P-GM9) is also available.

Analytical Principle:

    The GM9 measures the rate of oxygen uptake in the reaction between sample glucose and glucose oxidase (GOD). Under the assay conditions, this is directly proportional to the glucose concentration:

Operation:

    The single action of injecting a sample is all you need to obtain a result and prepare the analyser for the next analysis. Sample injection via a very accurate positive displacement pipette also triggers the complete analytical cycle. A hard-copy result is obtained on the integral printer within 20 seconds of sample introduction. The RS232 port facilitates interface with your PC database.

    Samples can be whole blood, plasma, serum or other biological fluids. Whole blood samples are collected in Analox capillaries or tubes containing heparin, fluoride and nitrite. Analyses are menu-driven via the 32-character display which guides the operator through the complete procedure. Subsidiary menus are reached via YES and NO buttons which enable the user to change calibration values, optimise operational modes, utilise special functions and perform statistical data analysis. The display also provides self-test diagnostics in relation to sensor electrode status and fluid movements.

Analytical Performance

Linearity

0 - 30mmol/L using 10µl sample, 0 - 50mmol/L using 5µl sample

Accuracy (Recovery)

Plasma, mean 100.92% (99.2-106.7)
range 1.5 - 30.0mmol/L

Whole blood, mean 96.7% (89.1-100.2)
range 1.0 - 25.0mmol/L

Accuracy (Method Comparison)
y = GM9

Plasma, vs GOD-PAP AAII
y = 1.01x + 0.13; n = 53, r = 0.998

Whole blood, vs GOD-PAP AAII
y = 1.02x - 0.26; n = 100, r = 0.998

Precision

Plasma, n = 20
CV = 1.4% at 10.0mmol/L

 Whole blood, n = 40
CV = 0.85% at 12.0mmol/L

Sensitivity

0.1mg/dl, 0.01mmol/L (selectable)
